A kitty and the cat. Or a cat and a kitten? Nobody really knows—or cares. Identity is fluid, darling, especially when you’ve got nine lives to experiment with.
Before this cosmic collision, Kitty & the Cat prowled their own musical alleys. The Cat grew up steeped in music—son of a preacher’s man, trained on the organ, later playing jazz piano, trumpet, drums, and guitar across different bands. Kitty, meanwhile, found her home in singing, dancing and performing: since 2017, a voice in the performative choir Heart Chor, as well as a shining star in cabaret, musicals, and more experimental shows (e.g., Ghetto Wrestling).
Somewhere between their third and seventh reincarnation, they realised they were destined to unite—not by fate, but by a shared obsession with performative music and the pleasure of bringing the patriarchy to its trembling knees.
It’s the confidence to exist loudly, unapologetically—even when falling off the stage (Kitty has done it twice, and yes, she landed on her feet).
“They’ve got a lot of self-confidence. But the good kind—the kind that makes the chaos sound tight.”
– Sound engineer at detect classic Festival
Their music is a sparkling pink cocktail: part emotional weather report, part dramatic sigh, laced with stage dives, fat basslines, a generous pour of Sekt, and an oyster pearl on top. Is it music? Is it therapy? Is it two cats yelling about vaginas and love gone wrong? Yes.
Whether it’s cunty lust, champagne bubbles, or a melody sharp enough to scratch your back just right, Kitty & the Cat embody the eternal feline spirit: present, feral, cute, independent, a little chaotic, always commanding. Always on a mission to get you back on your feet.
